What we say
Halifax Golf Club was Created in the early 20th century by five-times Open champion James Braid and is an 18 hole part heathland, part moorland golf course at Ogden. The layout has remained true to its original design with the only major alterations being made by Dr Alister McKenzie in 1912.
It's true that the golf course has undergone some surgery in recent years - most of the tees have been extended and re-laid while bunkers abandoned from the early days have been re-introduced. In addition, paths and bridges have been added to meet the standards expected by today's golfer while the greens are widely regarded as being among the very best in the region.
The golf course sits in a valley between two reservoirs and is playable year-round: it very rarely closes and temporary greens simply don't exist at Ogden.

This is a high course that weather can play a part in your enjoyment. The course is a great test for any golfer. The holes are very different as you wind up the valley with water and natural hazards playing their part on the lower 11 holes. You then go up on the tops and the views really open up. The 17th is either a p/we or a driver as you look down, towering over the green . A value treat and on it's day one of the best in West Yorkshire .
