Whitburn Golf Club

What we say
A main road runs through the centre of this seaside course with five holes on the coastal side and the remaining 13 on slightly higher ground.
There aren’t any trees to worry about while water only features on one hole though the wind coming off the North Sea is always a factor.
With a couple of long par-4s following three consecutive par-5s around the turn, shorter hitters might need to make their mark at the start and end of the round.
Whitburn Golf Club is located in the North-East of England between Whitburn Village and South Shields. The golf course has magnificent panoramic views of the North East coastline and the mouth of the river Tyne. Tynemouth Priory and St Mary's island in Northumberland are in view and on a good day, the Cheviot Hills to the north and the Cleveland Hills to the south can also be seen.
Whitburn Golf Club is a friendly golf club where visitors and societies are always welcome. Even without the prevailing westerly winds which often blow here, the 200 year old limestone walls, cleverly placed bunkers and the small, well-guarded greens make it a challenging but enjoyable test of golf for golfers of all standards.

It's a strange start off from this course. You pay your green fee then wonder where you start off from. In a nutshell that's the problem. No signs, not at the start or from green to tee as you work your way around the course. But other players were fantastic in keeping us on the right course, with directions and tips. Otherwise we would have really struggled. The course it's self is quite enjoyable with some tricky holes and fairways. But some close fairways makes it a bit of a nightmare from wayward hitters.

To many fairways merge together, balls flying everywhere.
