Tankersley Park Golf Club

Tankersley Park Golf Club is one of the unsung heroes of South Yorkshire. It isn’t long but, be warned, it’s tight and tricky and because it’s based on shale, Tankersley is fast-draining and therefore an excellent year-round track.

Tankersley Park Golf Club is a stone’s throw from the M1 motorway and proudly celebrates its centenary year in 2007. The golf course has undergone a checkered history but was reinstated in 1949 after a period of opencast mining.

  Lovely picturesque course. Hilly in places. Good condition even in winter weather. Still on full greens too..A good test.

  Course in very good condition and the times we've played easy to get around. In my opinion the course has been designed fairly for all handicap golfers. The only disappointing experience is, and i don't know whether this is 2-fore-1's fault or the shop, is the price paid is half of the day rate and not the round.

  The course plays really well and although some of the drives look daunting they do generally open out into generous sized fairways. The greens were great. I was disappointed that we were charged £39 when using our 2-4-1 voucher. The professional never told us this was for the full day, we started at 2pm so not sure how he thought we were going to do more than one round, hence it should have been £29. I didn't realise this till afterwards which put a bit of a dampener on it for me.

  Played tankersley with 7 others and we were all in agreement that the course was in super condition. The greens were great but a bit on the slow side. The feel of the course was park and heathland but with a bit of links mixed in . As for the welcome we got from the members after we had played , well it was 5 star plus. A super course.

  Tankersley Park is a good test of golf with some interesting holes. There are some tight holes that demand accuracy off the tee, that is atleast if you want to be in the right spot on the fairway to hit some quite well protected greens. The course is quite hilly in parts but this adds to the challange. The clubhouse is nice with a good bar.

  What a gem, amazing greens and tricky fairways. Difficult 1st and 18th holes. The view over the whole course from the top of the 8th tee box is outstanding. the greens in the height of summer are like putting on glass. Will be back again and again (and soon)!!
