Northumberland Golf Club

What we say
It’s the home club of R&A chief executive Peter Dawson so it must be good and the Northumberland, the handiwork of Harry Colt and James Braid, definitely doesn’t disappoint. It is played over and beside the racecourse and these days it still stages big events (2013 Regional Open Qualifying) and you need to take great care to negotiate the strategically-placed bunkers and large undulating greens.
Established in 1898, Northumberland Golf Club, situated under 5 miles from Newcastle, offers an 18 hole course, designed in part by both Harry Colt and James Braid. The course features tricky, well-defended greens.
