What we say
The oldest course in Yorkshire (it celebrated its 125th anniversary last year) and the White Rose county’s sole Championship links is a severe test, specially when the wind is blowing. It’s also flat, easy-walking and protected by strategically-placed bunkers.
A number of course architects, including Harry Colt, have been involved in the course’s creation and development with Donald Steel designing three new holes as recently as 2000. Although Cleveland has hosted a host of leading county amateur and professional events down the years, it still probably doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. But it offers amazing value links golf
