Childwall Golf Club

What we say
Childwall is a testing 6470 yard parkland course, demanding accuracy from the tee.
Childwall presents a very tough test of Golf and can match any course in the area. The course is not undulating and is very pleasant to walk. However, some holes do rise and this can affect the run of the ball.
The course design was based on the recommendation of James Braid when the Club moved to its present excellent site at Gateacre in 1938.
Over the years it has undergone some alterations, mainly to increase the length.
In addition to the course the Clubhouse is extremely attractive, serves excellent food and has a friendly, hospitable atmosphere.
Childwall ranks with the very best of courses in this area of very fine Golf Clubs.

A very enjoyable day’s golf with three good friends. Greens were in very good condition and lightning fast. Some very well placed bunkers which unfortunately found me out on a number of holes. It is a rewarding course that will give up pars if you’re on your game. Excellent value on the 2 fore 1 vouchers and we will be returning there very soon.

Always a pleasure to play and the best parkland in the Liverpool area, Childwall never disappoints. The greens are superb, the course does not drain too well so can become waterlogged after heavy rain. Best time to play in June when the shrubs are in full bloom, the tree lined fairways make for a very picturesque course. No weak holes, the rough can be quite penal, even just off the fairway and clever bunkering grenside makes par a pleasing score on any hole. Great value for visitors with 2 fore 1 voucher. Try it, highly recommended.

A very enjoyable parkland course. The fairways are generous, two cuts of rough on most holes, the deeper cut is generally a fair depth and no more than a half shot penalty. The greens are immaculate in the Summer. The grass is mature offering a true roll. The majority of greens are large and flat. Most approaches to the front of the greens are the same. There are two greenside bunkers either side of the entry to the greens. Players comfortable with the bump and run shot should find this pleasing. Stand-out holes, in my opinion, include 9,10,and 17. All par 5 holes are reachable in 2 shots in the Summer. The clubhouse and Pro shop staff are welcoming and friendly. Overall, a pleasant parkland course that offers a great opportunity to score well on if a player is driving and putting well.
