St Annes Old Links Golf Course

What we say
We’ve all heard of Royal Lytham and Birkdale, but if you want to play them you need to spend a fortune – or qualify for The Open. Here you can experience the best of Lancashire’s links coast golf for considerably less than the king’s ransomes you’ll be forking out at the neighbouring superstars.
The surroundings may have changed over the years, but the golf course has retained all its old charm and pure links character.

Founded in 1901, St Annes Old Links Golf Course was designed by the club’s first pro George Lowe and Sandy Herd. Having been forced to move from its original home due to encroaching building work.
The golf club identified a barren, windswept stretch of Lancashire coast, comprising dunes, sand and wild grasses, providing a new and permanent home for St. Annes Old Links Golf Club, which staged its first major event in 1919… the English Ladies Amateur Championship.

Whatever the weather this is great, the white tees are much more difficult the the yellow. Can be expensive in the summer but cheap as chips through the winter, well worth the money. Cracking course, not too long, great greens and always makes you think. Do it!

Played first ever round on links course here due to other courses being closed due to water logging. Condition of course was excellant with no water on course. Had the time of my life despite it blowing a gale and pouring with rain. Really friendly members and pro. Was looking forward to playing it again the following day but course we was booked in for was open. Will certainly be playing more links golf if they are as good as this.

Played this course when all the others around were shut by flooding. Superb fairways and excellent greens. Well maintained and in wonderful conditions with no standing water spongy ground. Exellent value for the money. Will be back when the longer days are back.
