Pleasington Golf Club

Pleasington lives up to its name and has come a long way since initially opening as a nine-holer in 1891. It’s now regarded as one of the leading parkland layouts in the region, being plotted within 142 acres of delightful East Lancashire open countryside. It’s always in excellent condition too.

Pleasington Golf Club was established in 1891 and opened as a nine-hole course. Set in some 142 acres of delightful East Lancashire open countryside, it was laid out with a hole cutter, hole guards and flags by George Lowe, the professional at Lytham St.Annes, at the invitation of Mr Fred T. Marwood (see photo) of Pleasington Lodge.
The course has undergone many changes in subsequent years, and still continues to develop. Most recently, new blue championship tees have been opened on several holes, in particular extending the length of the 3rd, 8th and 17th holes, and creating a spectacular new blue tee high on the hill for the 12th hole.

  Well from my experience of the golf I've played around this region this last week, this wasn't the course I expected. Having read the other reviews on here I expected an interesting round and friendly welcome. I got the opposite. I found the members to be full of themselves and as for the "wow" factor, yes the 7th and 14th are impressive but the rest of the round was boring to be honest. As an ex open qualifier I also thought the greens were quite poor in comparison to Blackburn and Clitheroe, both of which were in better condition after the wet weather and were more welcoming. I won't be coming back here next time I visit the region.

  this course has the wow factor with the par 5 7th and the par 4 14th the signature holes for me as there from elevated tee's, but every hole has something different about them. greens in fantastic condition, even with the dry spell we have had. if you are going to spend £50 for 2,  once this year,  then play this course you will not be disappointed. I will be playing again!!

  This is my favourite course. A superb challenging parkland course with every hole being different with spectacular views of the neighbouring countryside. I went on a 2 for 1 deal which is well worth it if you can find availability. This course is used for open qualifiers and the likes of Freddie Flintoff have often been seen on the course. This is a must for any golfer of an adequate or above standard, hackers should not apply! The clubhouse is very impressive and also the cars in the car park are not bad either, very exclusive. The club's own website provides a good array of pictures of the course. Located on the Chorley and Blackburn boundary, just 15 mins from the M65.
