What we say
Classical golfing values underpin the philosophy of Hurlston Hall designer Donald Steel. His desire to blend his courses imperceptibly into the surrounding landscape is never more evident than here.
The emphasis of this 18 hole, 135 acre, par 72 course is enjoyment. The strategic use of natural elevation, well placed traps and the finely sculptured contours of the greens, present an inspiring challenge.
With the emphasis on clever shot selection, there is always the opportunity to card a personal best. However the slightest hint of a hook or slice could result in a battle for respectability.
The 2nd, although stroke 18, is a tough test – 170 yards slightly uphill over Hurlston brook and into the prevailing wind. The 12th is another par-3 tester – an elevated tee looks to a small green with a huge protective bunker to the right and any mistakes are heavily punished.
This is a track where spot-on shot selection will give you a chance to produce a healthy-looking scorecard.

This course has matured excellently. The new owners and green staff have done a brilliant job and is as good as any parkland in the area.

After a lot of investment over the last few years this course is now in great condition. Fairways and greens are superb.

Bleak. Horrible. Three of us played and were impressed with the driving range on site. Besides that, none of us enjoyed ourselves and it's possibly because you can tell it used to be farmland.
