Heysham Golf Course

What we say
Heysham is handily located close to the M6 and is well worth making the effort to experience. The region is famed for the superb links layouts dotted along the north west coastline but Heysham is a fine parkland alternative though the prevailing southwesterly wind invariably comes into play. In fact you could well end up being blown away by the magnificent seven 400-yardplus holes as well as the stunning panoramic views from the elevated section of the course. You can also warm-up in style at Heysham’s first-class practice facilities.
This course needs to be treated with the utmost respect: it’s a serious test of golf – you’re doing battle with a lengthy, challenging layout with a selection of 400-yards plus par-4s while there are also as several water hazards, ditches and ponds to negotiate.

Heysham Golf Club is a parkland course situated at the extreme west of the Morecambe/Heysham boundary close to the coast and covers an area of approx. 130 acres and is within easy reach of the M6 motorway. Long holes and open fairways characterise our course together with the introduction of a number of water features to complement the extended 6360 yard par 70.
The elevated part of the course has stunning views across Morecambe Bay to the Lakeland Hills in the North and the Pennines to the East. Heysham Golf Club has an active membership with mens, ladies and junior teams in many local and club competitions. With a floodlit driving range, state of the art training facilities and practice areas, it makes Heysham Golf Club the ideal place to spend time golfing and socialising.

We played a 3 balll here at Heysham in very good weather conditions with sunny weather with some cloud and a slight breeze (just enough to affect our drives and 2nd shots) on some of the holes. The course is well laid out, the tee areas were fine, the fairways were well maintained and the greens were outstanding - a real credit to the green keeping staff. The course is a tadge long but it presents so many challenges that you have the opportunity to use most of the clubs in the bag - it isn't a long slog - the holes are sufficiently different in length to allow a variety of approach shots to the greens which keeps it interesting and challenging. Easy for visitors to follow the course from hole to hole. The staff are great! We were royally received and treated as valued customers by all from the pro shop to the bar - nothing seemd to be too much trouble. We will be back. Well done everyone at Heysham. The only slight niggle and nothing the club can do about it is the constant hummimng on maybe half of the holes from the nearby power station but it's no worse than playing with a major road or motorway in the distant background. Certainly nothing to dissuade you from returning to the course.

We have played this course twice and have found the welcome and facilities to be of a very good standard, the course was in really good condition with the greens and tees in good condition. The course is long but provides an excellent challenge for all standards of golfers, with a superb array of holes. really good value for money.
