Grange-over-Sands Golf Club

What we say
Popular among tourist golfers – it’s just seven miles from Windermere – and it’s not hard to see why. Grange-over-Sands Golf Club is not too intimidating and mid-high handicappers can tee it up with confidence. There’s a string of par 4s around the 300-yard mark but the main feature of the golf course is the classy par 3s.
Grange-over-Sands Golf Club has been around since 1910 but will have a new look come next spring when the extended layout, with its two brand spanking new holes, is set to open after the club purchased 10 acres of land. For the first time in its history, Grange will proudly be the home of a 6,000 yards plus layout.

Pro and staff very pleasant, unfortunately the course is very uninspiring, considering how much I enjoy playing golf it was shocking to find myself bored after 8 holes. This is made more strange by the fact myself and playing partner were both well under our handicaps (9 and 11) we finished 11 under net (this includes taking some shots off par for the shortened holes (winter i guess but mid-march?)). I live in the south lakes area and am truly proud to say so, however this course is in no way an accurate representation of the courses available, do yourself a favour and play Kirkby Lonsdale, Ulverston or Windermere - all of which are within 20 minutes of this flat (yes, even in Cumbria) and boring course.

When we played the weather was really poor, but thw elcome was good and the pro, offered us a discounted green fee. Becouse of the amount of rain that had fallen, the course was in good condition and the greens where pleasing and we had no plugged balls all day. Overall a good course that challenges golfers of all abilities with a mixture of length and tight holes, will definintly be going here again.
