Widnes Golf Club

What we say
It may be short but Widnes is a tight parkland with a good variety of testing holes including a 174-yard uphill finale in front of the clubhouse! You’ve also got to be wary of the stream which runs across and alongside the holes nearest the clubhouse.
Established in 1924, Widnes Golf Club, situated just a few minutes from the centre of Widnes, offers a scenic 18 hole parkland course. The course features narrow fairways, lined with mature trees, as well as compact, fast greens, meaning this course demands accuracy.

I was fortunate to be invited to play here with a member and thoroughly enjoyed my days golf. It felt like one of those 'established and friendly' kind of clubs and I felt welcome from the off. It cost £19 to play with a member and the bar bill was reasonable also. Some of the holes are very tight and a bit higgle de piggledy [ is that how you spell it ?] but there was nothing to complain about. The greens and the tees were fine and there was a good mix of long and short holes. All in all I would give the thumbs up!
