What we say

Brilliant if somewhat quirky heathland-woodland layout. The fairways are actually quite generous, but stray offline and you’ll meet mature oak, beech and birch. With many dogleg holes you have to carefully plot your way around undulating Sandiway in order to get the best possible shots at the greens, which are also to be on the small side.

Sandiway Golf Club's golf course was established in 1920 when the one and only architect Ted Ray was employed. He ensured excellent use of the natural features and contours.  Improvements were suggested and implemented by Harry Colt in 1925 with the current layout retaining much of its originality.

    Played here with Adam Wills from Sandiway who made this course look easy which it definately isn't. The natural contours of this course really tricks up this course, you never get a flat lie. Most of the greens are small with no real bail out areas anywhere. This course looking on the card looks short but that is only because of being 5 par 3's the par 4's are all challenging especially the 10th. Here like every other hole is about positioning a long tee shot is needed up the left with a 3 wood or driver not to be blocked out by the trees on the right, then a challenging fairway wood or long iron is needed to reach the elevated green with the ground falling off to the right.

    A lovely heathland course, with a wide variety of holes. I played here on the morning after a cold snap of -10 c. That said the course was in good but understandable firm nick. Overall it was a pretty and fair golf course, I would however like to play it on a warm summers day to get a true reflection of the course, then i imagine it would be outstanding...
