Sutton Coldfield Golf Club

What we say
Sutton Coldfield Golf Club is one of the most prestigious private members clubs in the Midlands. It was founded in 1889 and two years later moved to the present golf course in Sutton Park. Sutton Park itself was once part of a royal hunting chase and was given to the people of Sutton Coldfield by Bishop Vesey in the 16th century.
Sutton Coldfield provides a good combination of woodland and heathland golf. Mature oaks provide tight lines on holes nearer the clubhouse, whilst in mid-round the fairways are more open but fringed with thick gorse and heather. Unusually, the fifth to seventh holes are three consecutive par-5's. The back nine is tighter than the front nine and includes the dog-leg eleventh which itself is one of the best holes in the Midlands.

Just played Sutton Coldfield Golf course as it was the only course in our area that was open due to the heavy rain. All the greens were open and were as fast as my home course in the summer. The course is a hidden Gem and We wish we had found this years ago. We will return definitely. Superb

What a great golf course this is! The thing that you really have to do at this course is drive the ball well u have to hit it straight or else your ball is gone! You start with two "warm up hole" but after that you have to play some great golf on some holes, i do think however if you play cautiously and keeping the ball in the play, you can score well. The greens are brillaintly kept, and are a challenge to read with little breaks andhollows in the green. The best hole on the course is the par 3 15th, when u first see that hole i just said WOW, you can so tell that this golf course was tweeked by Alistar Mackenzie, and that par 3 could be placed on any course anywhere (if you want to know what its like just look at the par 3's on Pasetiempo). It is well wroth the visit, well worth the day out.

Great course which is open in most weathers when others nearby are closed. Good test of golf.

This course is one of the worst private clubs that I or our society played. The greens are fenced of to prevent cows getting on them (we had to drive over a heard on the 7th). The members are typical pompous old school golfers that had 'issues' with us having our trophies for our presentations in plastic carrier bags in the club house. I have nothing positive to say about it.
