I played this course on a friday afternoon after being recommended it by friends. I was told that the greens were brilliant. I was not dissapointed, the greens were as perfect as any in the country. Very quick, very true and very receptive. Aswell as the greens, Maxstoke Park has some superb holes, shaping both ways and some requiring strategic placement from the tee. The bunkering is very well placed and again they are in perfect condition. They also, as far as i can tell, substituted a few bunkers with small ponds which is a nice change from the norm. I looked at the scorecard prior to teeing it up and was a bit concerned that the back 9 was going to be a bit repetitive as its made up of 8 par 4's and a par 3. But the par 4's are all completely different and are a joy to play. Overall a top quality hidden gem and im so glad i found it and am looking to join somewhere in the Midlands next year and Maxstoke Park has put itself very high up on my list.
