Wergs Golf Club

This relatively new gently rolling parkland track (it opened in 1990) won’t blow you away and is still maturing. Apart from the excellent 8th with its split fairway you probably won’t recall too many of the holes afterwards though on the positive side it’s a friendly set-up and the course drains well so is usually in good shape.

Originally opened in 1990, Wergs Golf Club offer an 18 hole municipal parkland course, with gently undulating terrain, numerous bunkers and various water hazards. This course will provide any golfer with a challenge.

  Played the course as a four ball all the players thought it wasn't challenging at all were not brilliant players were all around 16 handicappers just found it up and down theres one nice hole where it splits into two played better courses for a lot cheaper its a tenner course if they dont lower the price u can play patshall cheaper.

  Pretty Average Course, usually playable all year round. Tees are poor to average, fairways standard parkland (sometimes bothersome when long cut grass is left on them). Greens are average, some work being done to improve 1 or 2 of the poorer ones. Quite a long course that at first seems forgiving, but many fairways lined with trees and "unforgiving" conifers, find them and you're in trouble. Some fairways are pretty boring, the odd bunker and a ditch (water filled in places that parallels some fairways and cuts across others (this course is crying out for water features). One of the worst things on the course must be the bunkers - shocking, sand is poor quality and filled with gravel and weeds. There's also an open practise area in the middle of the course. Faciities wise, small club shop selling limited equipment (seems to only be staffed part time). Changing rooms and showers but they are in need of a refit.  Club house with spike bar and lounge/ restaurant, always made welcome by friendly staff beer on top and bottled, food available but not great quality. Club house is always quite. In summary, an average course, nothing too special  but in my opinion has the potential to be so much better with a little investment and TLC.
