Burton-on-Trent Golf Club

Burton-on-Trent Golf Club was founded in 1894 and began life as a 9-hole golf course at Stapenhill. Starting in early 1980's a major tree-planting programme began and within 10 years 20,000 trees had been added to the golf course to provide shape and segregation to many of the holes, a lake was created in front of the 18th green. All these changes and additions have produced the 'Augusta like' finishing hole and an interesting challenging golf course maintained to the highest standards.

The Burton on Trent clubhouse was built in 1907 after an opportunity allowed land from the Earl of Carnarvon to be rented for the purpose of building a Clubhouse. In 1996 a major refurbishment including new locker rooms, took place to provide excellent facilities for members and visitors. Now the club house is central to the club, hosting many key events through the year.

Providing a range of quality meals and drinks the club house is the perfect place to go after a game of golf.

  I left a five star rating for this course.  I found as a new member that this was certainly one of the best golf courses in  a fifty mile radius.  My thoughts on the course itself remain unchanged. The people who run this golf club and a lot of the members are dreadful.  Appallingly rude, constantly critical, foul mouthed - this golf club is run by a clique of the same people (same people attending events, same people on the committee and so on).  Basically an army of pensioners who have nothing better to do than to pick fault with anyone than crosses their path.  It is the golfing equivalent of the Caravan and Campers Club. I could not stand it anymore after two years and have found much friendlier and equally impressive haunts to play this brilliant sport.  My personal tip -play it in a society or in an open.  Don't join - you will either be cloned into the collective or sent to naughty corner.  If there were ever a case for a regime change this place is it.

  This is the best course in the area by miles. Tight tree-lined fairways, immaculate greens and a final hole to die for. Its a challenging course, if you think you've cracked it by the 9th then think again becuase it gets longer and harder. The greens are quick and true, infact the whole course is pretty much immaculate.

  Had a great society day here. Greens were in superb condition, very fast but very true. A fantastic closing hole leaves you with great memories. Traditional yet friendly clubhouse, if you get a chance to play here, take it.

  this is a course in fantastic condition. the best i've played this year. the greens can be very quick and are in great condition all year round. the course needs to be played with caution and good placement off the tee is a must as your score will quickly add up. watch out for the two par 3's, holes 10 and 12 both around the 200 yard mark and heavily bunkered.
