The Shropshire Golf Centre – Gold/Silver Championship Course
Last updated:
What we say
The Shropshire Golf Centre is a pleasant, enjoyable place to tee it up all the same. It’s a cracking venue for societies in particular as there’s three loops of nine holes on offer with the Gold and Silver layouts somewhat predictably being the best combo. It’s a modern golf centre complex with excellent facilities and provides a fun golfing day out and real value for money.
The Shropshire Golf Centre golf courses opened in 1992 and were designed by the renowned Martin Hawtree. They are set in over 250 acres of undulating land. This is a 27-hole golf complex set in the heart of Shropshire’s beautiful rolling countryside. The recently refurbished clubhouse includes a pro shop, plus there's a refurbished 30-bay driving range and an excellent 14-hole par three academy golf course.
The Shropshire Golf Centre has unveiled its new £75,000 events marquee. Featuring its own bar, dance floor and mood lighting, the new marquee, officially opened by Councillor Smith (November 2014), will be used for a variety of occasions including weddings, corporate events, private dinners and cocktail parties at The Shropshire – part of BGL Golf, the UK’s leading golf course owner and operator.
The marquee is a permanent structure at the public pay-and-play centre, which can accommodate up to 200 guests, broadening its capacity as one of Telford’s leading events venues by complementing the two existing function rooms, the Loft and Farmhouse, which can accommodate up to 90 and 150 guests respectively.

If your looking for a venue for your golf society then take a look at The Shropshire. we played here a couple of weeks ago (36 of us) and took advantage of their 27 hole package. one of the only places where you play 3 different 9 hole loops all very different layout and in great condition. breakfast, lunch and meal afterwards plus 27 holes of golf for less than £45 quid! we will definatly be going back in the summer next year. the golf course is suitable for all levels of golfer, we had 24Hcp to 5Hcp in our group and all throughtly enjoyed it. greens were awesome for the time of year. Big thanks to Ros from The Shropshire for organising the day. One of the only venues i have been to as a society where you feel welcome at the weekends from start to finish. RECOMMENDED!

Course has 3 loops of nine and a par 3 course. I played on the Silver and Blue course and was surprised as to how good the course was. Many of the holes have doglegs so you cannot just rip it off the tee, this course makes you think. Greens were in good condition considering the lack of rain. Favourite hole was the 9th on the silver, its a par 5 with two brooks across the fairway and a pond next to the green, very tight to get to the green in 2, you need to lay up between the brrooks to score well. Definatly recommend this course and looking forward to going back and trying the gold course.

Superb condition for the time of year, one of the only courses in the area to be playing off proper tees and greens. Varied test of golf with three quite different loops of nine. Overall an excellent golf course.

This is a great course for all. greens are great with the green keepers always trying to improve the course and greens. With 27 holes course never gets to conjested. EVEN on the WEEKEND! come and give it ago.

Three interesting nines all with some excellent holes.Could be a very good course with a little less emphasis on getting as many people as possible on the course and a bit more emphasis on quality. Great practice facilities and very good summer greens, very reasonable price.

A good mixture of holes. 3 x 9 keeps it interesting. Some very challenging par 3's, Long 5's and not many straight par 4's. Plenty of Traps and in the summer the greens are as good as anywhere. Always working to improve the course. The clubhouse offer good value. A welcome club fo players of all ability, provided they look after the course. Society days can be busy. Very wet off the fairway in winter.

A real challenge for a novice with some excellent holes and wonderful views. Watch out for the water!
-
a nice course with plenty of trouble to avoid i like the idea of 3 loops of nine to choose from it means you can vary your round the next time you play

Good set up for those golfers just starting out. 3 nine hole courses, one tight, one sandy and the other with water give a good 18 hole choice
