Bondhay Golf Club and Restaurant

Set in the heart of the Dukeries, forming part of the Chatsworth Estate, Bondhay's idyllic location makes it the perfect setting for a relaxing round of golf or for socialising with colleagues, clients and friends.

Originally designed by one of world golf's most respected architects, Donald steel, in 1990, Bondhay's par 72, 6807 yard course offers a superb test of golf for players of all abilities, and is regarded as the only true championship course in the region.

The course is maturing, breathing and enhancing the surrounding countryside and boasts glorious panoramic views of the Chatsworth and Dukeries estates that sprawl around its border.

Undulating fairways, strategically placed bunkers and tight green necks characterise the course, and of particular test are the cunning water hazards found on 4 holes.

Thre is also a 9 hole Par 3 Academy Course.

  Very long, tight, lots of sand, but in great condition, fairways the best Ive played, greens get better every time I play. And you can play it all year round.

  As organiser of a small society who meet 6-10 times a year, i can honestly say this has been the best course we have played this year. Only an hours drive, a very reasonable green fee, and so much sand we thought we were playing in Dubai. The course had some magnificent holes, 9th, 10th, 11th spring to mind, but these were not the only good holes, and the 18th provided a real test to finish the round. All of the greens were consistent and contoured and fairways in excellent condition, and off white tee's is definitely a long course One criticism, the pro shop had a lot of old stock (dusty boxes and R5 gloves) but this didnt have any effect on our day, all of us said we would be back next year to play Bondhay again.

  Played this course at the weekend and really enjoyed it. I had heard some horror stories about how hard it was and how many bunkers were dotted about. I am a 22 handicapper and thought that it was a stern test but not unplayable if you can keep it reletively straight, even some errant tee shots were usually playable albeit from in stands of young trees. Course was in excellent condition considering all the bad weather we have had lately. I would definately recommend to anybody who wants to test their game.

  It's interesting to see all the mixed reports for this course and the amount of reports from other websites shows how popular it is, I suprised there's nothing on here yet. This was confirmed when we arrived by the amount of cars in the car park, it was clearly a very busy course. I'm a society organiser and a high handicapper (28) and totaly agree with some of the comments as regard the water on the 18th (too much). In general considering the time of year and the poor weather on the day I felt the course was in good condition. The greens looked terrible but were true and very testing. The course offers a good variety of holes notibly the 10th and 11th which others have mentioned. What I liked most about Bondhay was the relaxed casual atmosphere, friendly members and staff it's how clubs should be. The club was also flexible and didn't charge for one player who didn't show. On the negative side one of our members asked for some bread with his meal and was sold two slices on bread for 60p which I thought was very harsh considering the amount of money we had already spent. As is with most clubs in the winter and early spring I would like to come back and play in the Summer months. Overall our society had a great day on a challenging course and we'd definately come back
