Collingtree Park Golf Club

What we say
Collingtree is like a little corner of Florida – without the sunshine! It has fully recovered from its European Tour greens nightmare a few years back and is a shining example of an American-style layout. Take plenty of balls with you – water features on 10 holes including the memorable par-5 18th with its infamous island green.
In fact nowadays it’s always in excellent condition – and that includes the greens – even though it is a big hit and offers great value-for-money, especially for 2-FORE!-1 voucher holders and societies. The Johnny Miller-designed course has a great mix of holes.
Collingtree Park Golf Course was opened in 1990 by designer and former Open & US Open Champion, Johnny Miller.
Collingtree Park is a unique test of golf that will challenge any handicap or reputation. Our 6,776 yard par 72 course has water on no less than 10 holes, including our signature 18th hole to an island green, which is sure to be a real talking point at the 19th. It’s firm but fair!
As well as our Championship golf course and our highly sought after golf and tuition facilities, Collingtree Park also boasts a modern clubhouse.
The 19th hole is ideally situated to the back of Collingtree Park’s famous par 5 18th island green, the clubhouse accommodates some of the finest facilities, including:
Members bar with veranda overlooking the 18th island green

I played Collingtree Park last Wednesday in a three ball. The first is a straight par four with the left hand side being out of bounds due to the driving range, I was frustrated when I hooked my tee shoot into the driving range and couldn't find my ball amongst 100's of others ! After that the course just gets better and better, with some tough holes leading to the climax par 5 18th, with water on the left and an island green. I was very impressed with the condition of the course the tees, greens and fairways were in excellent condition and made the round most enjoyable. I think the green fees reflect the condition of the course and are fair, and the clubs rules were relaxed and accomodating, my only major disappointment was getting back to the club house at 6:30pm only to find they had stop serving food !!! We drove over the road and went to the Toby cavery instead. Just would have been nice to eat a sandwich\meal and watch the golfers approaches onto the 18th, all in all a fantastic course just disappointing leaving with an empty stomach !

Played this course on Saturday along with 27 other like minded golfers (Society day), we had a fantastic time, the course was in great condition and the 18th is a true test of holding your nerves if your going to go for it in two, (par5 507 off the yellows) with water all down the left and out of bounds all down the right and an island green finish. I don’t care that there are houses surrounding the course nor do I care that there is quite a bit of road noise from the M1 & A45, you need to put that all behind you and enjoy the course, as it has some fantastic holes of golf. (With one of our party getting an ACE on the par 3 12th) Excellent value for money and the staff are very helpful, meal could have been a bit more generous and the Pro shop was a bit Spartan, apart from those two small points it’s a great course and one of the best finishing holes that I have played for a long time.

Having played at all the major course throughout the UK this, at any price, has to be the best course and fairest challenge for all standards that I have played. Maybe having the houses close on a handful of holes doesn't make it the best looking course, but who plays for the surrounding scenery and the 15 holes that are not affected by houses looking over them are stunning. The 18th has to be the best "Golf" hole ever designed, you have to play this course just to play the 18th.

This course is a great challenge on any day with tee shots needing to be accurate and recoveries from wayward shots needing to be even better! Plenty of water on this course especially on the front nine and if the wind blows the back nine act very much like a links course. The back nine can be a bit noisy from some road noise but the course more than make up for it. Some people complain about some the houses around the course on certain holes, but to be honest you have got to be pretty wayward to go there and perhaps shouldn't be playing the course. The flipside is that this course is very convenient in location and currently is in beautiful condition, get there quick!
