What we say
You can save up to 17% by booking a tee time online. There’s a splendid variety of holes and the course played very well considering it had been pouring with rain before our visit. The greens, in particular, were in remarkably good nick. The star hole is the 207-yard par-3 3rd. You fire from an elevated tee to a green way down below.
The Cold Ashby Golf Club opened in 1974 though John Day's original design was extended 12 years ago. It now offers 27 holes of quality golf with its three loops of nine (the Winwick, Ashby and Elkington nines) which work their way across impressive undulating terrain. In winter time if it's been snowing, the golf course is turned into a ski-ing venue believe it or not!
Meanwhile, the Cold Ashby clubhouse was rebuilt in the early nineties and now boasts a comfortable lounge bar with a unique gallery of Open Champions: it contains a picture of every Open Champion since 1860.

Had to endure this awful golf course for an annual fixture. Greens were not worth putting on, fairways were wet to say the least. Tee boxes were very un even, and the blue tees were miles in the wrong direction. Very hilly- land should have been kept for farming. Steak sarnie at half way was pretty good! Very poor pint Overall- Never returning!

Only played this course once, challenging course both playing wise again physically. Great scenery, friendly staff. Shot a an 83 which I was pleased with as a tough course. Been skiing there in in 2009 and 2013, yep it's not a joke. Far better for skiing than MK extreme.

some challenging holes with good variation on the 3 loops of nine, up and down the hills giving great views on a clear day

played this course wary of the time i played before, but it was absolutley marvalous. i shot an 82 but seeing the course is really hard i thought this was a good score

I played this course as our works monthly golf day.there are 3 nine hole courses so you can choose which 2 to play. the Elkington(blue) 9 is much the steepest, but we played that last year so chose the Winwick(yellow) and Ashby(red),still hilly but not quite as bad.The welcome by the staff is very good and the greens when we played were very hard and fast, and very early on we realised you had to pitch the ball short and let it run on else you would be through the green. All in all a quite challenging course and a relief to the feet when you have finished.

Great place to play golf if you can handle the terrain! Good mix of holes, although a flat lie is a bit of a rarity. Greens are generally in good condition, even in winter, but some of the tees could better.
