Fabulous course , in fact the best ive ever played. loved the 14 th , fantastic condition even in torrential rain , some of the greens have drains for quick drainage loved every minute on the course . however was put of by the staff in the pro shop got the feeling we werent welcome when we produced our 2 for 1 vouchers even though it was raining and we were the only ones on the course , the club website states that greenfees for visitors are 30 a round therefore we should have been charged 15 but for some strange reason we were charged 18 . however if you overlook this it well worth a visit and i will return when its dryer.

I'm afraid I cannot leave a review of the course itself as I was informed by a rather condescending golf shop assistant that ' we no longer accept 2-fore-1 vouchers'. When I mentioned that according to the 2-fore-1 website it was possible to book a tee time on Thursdays in high season, he was quite dismissive. I thought that this type of elitist attitude in golf had disappeared but no, it is truly alive and kicking!

Great course - all of the holes are individual and have some character to them, apart from the 16th which is an ordinary par 3. Course strategy is needed here and you will need to plot your way around the course to score well. Overall it's well worth a trip

I think this is the best course in Leicestershire, and if I lived anywhere near Ashby I would be rushing to join. It has the feel of a mini Woburn as its cut through a park estate and meanders up and down dale. There are many blind shots and numerous holes where intelligence is rewarded rather than length off the tee. Its quirky, its beautiful and were it situated anywhere else the green fee would be three times what it is now. I cannot wait to return, and I would imagine the scenery in Spring or Autumn must be spectacular. This is a course that fits the landscape rather than has been bulldozed out of the fields. I highly recommend it, and cannot wait to return - but please dont tell anyone as I would prefer it to remain hidden!
