Nice enough course, not the best in the county but equally not the worst. Just, well, nice. Opens with a long uphill par 5, there is OOB coming into play on the first 7 holes. There are some shortish par 4's, 2 of which are driveable, and a couple of nice par 3's built around the disused railway line which runs through the course. The rest of the course is pleasant enough but not particularly memorable. This is more than made up for by the facilities - cracking little clubhouse attached to the hotel, well stocked shop and warm welcome from the staff. The food is also excellent, and all in all, Ullesthorpe represents pretty good value for money. Two words of warning, though. Despite investing heavily in drainage the course still suffers badly in wet weather. And pace of play can be a MASSIVE problem - as a former member, if I started a round between 8 and 9am I was regularly coming in after nine holes having been out for 2 1/2 hours or more. The place gets busy(ish) with societies, but equally guilty are a minority of the senior members who seem to have no concept of time!!

Played in a dusting of snow and on winter greens all the way round, but for 16.50 including a hot meal afterwards, no complaints. Course was varied and in good order - just need to play it on the proper greens now.

A testing parkland layout with very fast greens, and plenty of traps for the unwary. First class hotel, with very good food and service, and unusually great real ale! Very good for society and club trips away.

Ullesthorpe is an interesting course, set in some beautiful scenery. The use of the old dismantled railway line adds intrigue to the round. Ullesthorpe offers a challenge for mid to high handicapers, but there is often very little in regards punishment for inaccurate shots with the wide forgiving fairways.
