What we say
At just 6,000 off the back tees, Harborough is not the longest track but several holes involve uphill shots so club selection is paramount to getting reward for your good shots. Water only comes into play once in 15 holes, but getting wet is a distinct possibility on the testing closing stretch.
Golf was first played at Market Harborough Golf Club in 1898 though the golf course has experienced significant changes since then. The challenging 18 hole layout is set in the rolling countryside of the south Leicestershire and north Northamptonshire borders and being located on the outskirts of the town, the golf club offers a relaxing, welcoming atmosphere in which to enjoy the game.

I have just moved to the area and have been looking for a new club to join. I have played several local courses in the last couple of weeks and this one stood out for me. A really nice course, not a monster by any means, but a challenging course with risk reward opportunities throughout. The quality of the tees was excellent as were the greens, I actually played the front nine in TORRENTIAL rain and the course stood up incredibly well considering. Also a really nice touch was that the pro let me come back the next morning to play the back nine in a little more comfort!! I was taken with the stunning veiws around the entire course, it is right in the middle of the countryside so it is a lovely place to play golf (and as I say I can verify this is in rain or shine!). The facilities are not its strength but they are more than adequate with an open grass range (with mats as well), a chipping green and bunker and a putting green all available and a smallish but perfectly nice club house. I am looking forward to becoming a member at this welcoming and friendly club!

Tucked away outside Market Harborough, this is a thoroughly enjoyable course. A trifle hilly, but with some very interesting holes. I highly recommend this course for all abilities as a good all round venue. I played on a Society Day, and not a single person had anything but praise.

Played this course with a member, and it is just about the best £15 I've ever spent on golf, even at £30 it is great value. The course is well kept, with two very different, but equally challenging nines. The shop staff are excellent, so good in fact that I am also having lessons at the club. Clubhouse is nice, if a little small, and the beer is good - what more could you need.
