Hinckley Golf Club

What we say
Leicestershire is hardly famed for its quality of golf courses – Hinckley is just about as good as it gets though. It’s a fine, mature gently rolling parkland golf course that will put a smile on the faces of golfers of all playing standards. It’s also extremely popular with not only the locals but is an ideal corporate venue – when we pitched up a company shotgun start competition had just got underway. Star hole is the sharp left dogleg 4th over two lots of water but watch out for the unusual finale – a 200 yards plus par 3. Oct 4, 2006
Golf was first played at Hinckley Golf Club in 1894 on Burbage Common. The golf course remained 9 holes on common ground until August 1983 when the new clubhouse opened. Two holes and three greens from the original golf course are still in use today keeping the bond between the old and the new.

I played this course in August and the course was in good condition. The greens were excellent and very quick. I played the course for £23 on a 2 fore 1 voucher which the club accepts on a Monday and Wednesday. It is a nice track although not many holes are that memorable, 10th & 4th are the pick of the bunch. If you get the chance its definately worth a visit ,but im not sure I would pay the £46 usual green fee.

This course had been recommended as one of the best in the county, and I was not disappointed. The course is challenging but still highly enjoyable. Design is such that good players are given chances whilst us lesser mortals will not be beaten up, but have ample opportunities on our good days to score well. Tree lined and with plenty of water this is a lovely course and a credit to the green keepers and Committee. The clubhouse though is a different matter. From the outside it looks modern and huge. When entering its dark, and only a tiny bit of it appears to be used. The service, quality and choice of food are lacking, and its the first course I have played in a long time that did not have a decent draught bitter on hand pump. Minor criticisms I know, but sufficient to make me try elsewhere rather than rush back. Shame really as a few minor improvements would make this nearly the best in the county.

It's a very good course and is reckoned to be among the best in the county. Everybody who pays it a visit is complimentary about the course and its condition

I'm not a member here…I wish I was. We actually have our company golf day at Hinckley because we reckon it's the best course in these parts.
-
It's a very challenging course, one of the most testing in Leicestershire with a great variety of holes.

Hinckley is a superb course and a good test all year round. The greens are fast and true and the parkland fairways are a joy to play off. The pro-shop and clubhouse are friendly and welcoming. Don't forget your handicap certificate.

The course was in great condition despite the usual autumnal maintenance work. It makes you think all the way round.

I have played Hinckley several times and it is always in excellent condition. It is a good test for golfers of all handicaps and fairways and bunkers are always well maintained. The greens are some of the best to be found in the Midlands area and are always fast and true, even in winter. The dog-leg par 5 4th hole, over two lots of water is a great hole and their are several other challenging holes. The clubhouse facilities and pro-shop are excellent and you are always made to feel welcome. I would probably join if it was closer to where I live.

The course is always in excellent condition, the welcome is warm and the pro shop and clubhouse are very good. I played this course for the 1st time in June and really enjoyed the experience. I found it quite a challenge that demanded accuracy off the tee. A very good variety of holes, with greens that are very true. Overall a very nice course, well worth a visit.
