Greetham Valley Golf Club  (Valley Course – The no. 2 course) is a decent foil for the main attraction (the Lakes Course) though purists will turn their noses up at its lack of length and the fact it has too many short-ish holes.

Mind you, several of the par 3s are right out of the top drawer, including a spectacular tree-lined ‘drop’ hole and an uphiller to a massive three-tier green.

Overall, like the Lakes layout, it can usually be found in good general nick. An all-round good facility and very reasonably priced at that. Value-for-money and satisfaction guaranteed then.

The Greetham Valley Golf Club  (Valley Course) initially opened in 1992 and became a 36 hole venue seven years later, with the introduction of the lakes course.

Set in 260 acres of picturesque Rutland countryside, Greetham Valley is a rapidly maturing golfing venue: it  has been carefully developed from traditional undulating farmland to create three diverse and interesting golf courses, each with their own unique challenges for every level of golfer. 

Lakes, ponds, a winding stream, mature woods and a naturally contoured landscape of scenic valleys and rolling hills make Greetham Valley a beautiful environment and home to an abundance of wildlife.

     This course is not long, but golf is not played on the scorecard. You need to hit it straight off the tee and you need to be striking the ball well on the five par 3s... all of which are lovely. Greens in good nick even when we played in nov. Good for mid to high handicaps as it's short and not too penal off the tee. But it is also good for better players as it will demand the right shape of shot off the tee and cleanly struck mid and short irons to the greens. And it's really good value. Maybe not the place you;d want to play week in week out but for an occasional round for a change of scenery it's great!

    Staff at pro shop seem to be more interested in football results and their own game than serving you but the course makes up for it. I like the Valley course better than the lakes as it offers more variety and as always the greens and fairways are in great nick.

    Greetham is a great day out, and the lakes course is excellent - not too keen on the 17th though, it wrecked my card completely!

    One of the best facilities in the region and well worth a look. The new hotel is perfect for a short stay and the place is very friendly. Don't be fooled by the shortish yardage on the valley course, the gradients of the valley will tire even the hardiest.
