Forest Hill Golf Club

What we say

The Forest Hill Golf Club can be found close to the M1 - it's just three miles from Junction 22. The Forest Hill's smart clubhouse was built in 1996 when the club was renamed and its new owners invested heavily in the upkeep of an already well designed golf course. The location of the course is close to both Nottingham’s East Midlands Airport and Birmingham’s International Airport making in easy to reach with good transport links. Forest Hill Golf Club is now a firm favourite with golfers from all over the midlands area, and is suitable for golfer of all levels.

  • 3 out of 5 A pleasant, if unspectacular course

Nestled in the heart of rural Leicestershire, Forest Hill has all the makings of what could be a lovely little club. The emphasis of the club is on progressively modern, and the welcome from the staff and members certainly reflects that. With a nine hole short course, a practice putting green, chipping area, a driving range and a well appointed clubhouse serving a good range of food and drinks at an appealing price, everything is certainly in place off course. On the course, the track certainly has a lot of potential. Recently extended to par 72 and 6228 yards, there are a good mix of holes that pose an interesting challenge for mid-high handicappers. With good views over the local area it’s a course that has a charming feel, and the tough par 5 uphill 11th has a sloping green that wouldn’t feel out of place at Augusta. Stopping the ball is a real challenge here! Meanwhile, there are plenty of well placed bunkers elsewhere, whilst a number of water hazards add to the aesthetic pleasures of the course as well as keeping the golfer on his/her toes. On the downside, drainage on the course is not great – meaning the course can become a little boggy in parts. The greens could also do with a little more ‘love’ and attention, but I believe this is something the course manager is working on, as are the tee boxes which were already a little bare in parts. Overall, a nice little course with bags of potential and one that’s well worth a visit if in the area.
