Charnwood Forest Golf Club

What we say

Well established – it’s the oldest club in the county – James Braid undulating heathland nine holer which scenically sits on a Site of Special Scientific Interest amidst heather, gorse, bracken, rolling terrain and 620million-years-old stones known as ‘Hanging Stone Rocks.’ It’s in fine condition year-round – in fact it’s so good, weather permitting, you’ll want to play it twice!

The Charnwood Forest Golf Club was designed by James Braid though the club was founded some years before the Scot Braid substantially re-modelled the golf course.

The 18 tees of this little gem of a nine-holer offer variety of yardage, shape, and elevation thus requiring the golfer to pay close attention during both circuits. Panoramic views of the stunning Leicestershire countryside are available at every turn.

Being heathland the golf course at Charnwood is well-drained and remains open when many other golf courses in the county are forced to close, due to the rain or other forms of precipitation!

Played this friendly course in the summer of 2008, very interesting with a varied collection of 9 holes. On the second 9 you play from different tees so makes slightly altered length and deviation. Great scenery and a few blind approaches make this course one you will definitely want to play again.
