Paid £10 and was very surprised. Nice welcome in the pro shop and the bar afterwards. Greens were excellent for this time of year as was the rest of the course. Challenging course and quite tight but then open in places. will definately go back and play again and would recomend to anyone.

Visited Shirland yesterday and we had a great round in the sun. The welcome was very friendly and the food afterwards really great. The course started off in a gentle fashion with some flatter holes but narrow fairways. After the first 7 holes there were more hills and each hole was tricky and interesting. Punctuated with lovely views across the valley. The greens were well kept and pretty true with some good slopes. The course was well maintained and the ground staff very friendly even after my wayward fairway shot nearly hit his head! A really great days golf and all for £12 each

We played Shirland Sunday 20th May 2007 with our Society, I agree with many of the other comments especially on the breathtaking views. However when we played there had been a change of ownership, 6 weeks I believe. What I can say is that the welcome and organisation in the pro shop and catering was first class, brilliant however the course was in desperate need of investment and some TLC. The faiways were covered in daisys, greens were slow, bobbly and patchy. Unfortunately we were told some of the greens have been subject to vandalism. Overall though the day was superb the course is very interesting and makes you think about each shot, some narrow fairways, the catering, bar and pro shop was superbly run. I just hope that the new owners invest and get the course sorted, this would influence me in booking another society day there, looking at the review on here this seems to be true !

this course has the lot 5 par 5s and 4 par 3s. the greens are some of the best ive played, all the fairways are tree lined and most with dog legs a very challenging course
