What we say
It’s in the Peak District, so hilly. After the opening holes, it’s less severe. It’s a bit quirky in places – the par-4 14th crosses the par-5 13th – so buy a course guide. Timber all round, so accuracy is key.
Established in 1906 on the undulating moorland above the town of Matlock - the eastern gateway to the Peak District National Park - our club offers a challenging 18-hole par 70 course of 6,000 yards with spectacular views across the valley of the River Derwent. Every hole is different and the Bentley Brook meanders through the course to add further interest.
The off-course facilities provided by our friendly Professional, Bar and Catering staff are just as important in luring visiting groups and societies back time and time again.
Practice facilities comprise two large ranges, two netted bays and a putting and chipping green. Trolley and buggy hire are available.

What a course!!!!!! Had fantastic day from start to finish, the welcome in the club house was very friendly and everybody had time to help out with any questions or to just say hello and ask if I/we were ok. The staff in the pro shop were very informative and helpful as well. The tees were in excelent condition the fairways were very well kept and the greens are probably the best I've played. Very quick lots of subtle breaks but a good test!!!!! A great test of golf, the views around the course are fantastic from the castle that you can see for most of the front nine to wild life and views across the valley on the back. A fantastic days golf and good food after a definite if you are playing in Derbyshire. A course that was a good fair test and staff that were very helpful. A GREAT DAY!!!!!
