Royal Worlington and Newmarket Golf Club

What we say
Posh by name and posh by nature. That’s wonderful Royal Worlington and Newmarket Golf Club, arguably the finest nine holer of them all. Legendary golf scribe and historian Bernard Darwin was spot-on when he described it as ‘The Scared Nine’. Obviously it’s inland but it has many characteristics of a links golf course with its firm, tight fairways, subtle undulations and super-slick greens.
Royal Worlington and Newmarket Golf Club was founded in 1893 and is the home golf course of Cambridge University. It is widely regarded as one of the best nine hole layouts in the world, never mind the country. It's nine holes are based on gently undulating sandy-based soil that drains well all-year round. It's an excellent winter golf course because temporary greens are not needed.
