Marriott Sprowston Manor Hotel & Golf Club

What we say
A decent parkland golf course with two contrasting nines – the front nine is tree-lined and tighter while the reverse stretch is relatively open and exposed though you need to carefully plot your way round some well placed bunkers. There are probably too many short holes, specially around the turn, for the purist though the short par 4 7th – a sharp left dogleg to a green well guarded by water on the right – is a worthy signature hole. Overall, an impressive all-round golf course with terrific greens and excellent practice facilities, all backed-up by a four star Marriott hotel offering quality accommodation and amenities.
Marriott Sprowston Manor Hotel & Country Golf Club is an idyllic country retreat, set in more than 150 acres of mature Norfolk parkland. The golf course is a superb championship test of golf that ranks among the best in East Anglia. Players will relish the layout, by European Golf Design, featuring championship USGA specification greens, multiple tees and more than 70 strategically placed bunkers. The Manor Golf Course also boasts several dynamic water features, most notably the ponds, weirs and fountains on the spectacular 361-yard par 4 dogleg seventh, which also runs alongside the impressive 200-yard oak-lined driveway to the hotel. The 6,547-yard course surrounds the spectacular and historic Sprowston Manor, and affords stunning views of the surrounding Norfolk countryside.
The golf complex has an extensive range of golf facilities including a 27-bay floodlit driving range, putting green, chipping and bunker practice area, PGA tuition, fully-refurbished locker rooms, brand-new pro shop and state-of-the-art computerised tee booking systems. GPS buggies and trolleys are also available for hire.

Although a little boring i thoroughly enjoyed this course...mainly because i had only just started playing golf and i didnt need anything too challenging at the time. Lovely setting with the house on site and some picturesque holes. The course was immaculate when i played.

Up & down, up & down. Only one dog-leg on the whole course. Tees, greens and fairways a disgrace. How they have the cheek to charge £45 a round is beyond me. Thankfully, I didn't have to pay full price but resented £22.50 as well!

Greens generally very good. The course, last played 4 weeks ago, is reasonalby benign. Not many really tough holes and the course is a bit samey - up one side then down the other. A large lake comes into play on the back nine and a ditch runs alongside a few of the holes. That said, the fairways are genorous enough to stay out of trouble.

Flat course that is an easy walk. Tees in good nick and fairly straightforward driving although some good bunker placeemnts! Greens are challenging but in good condition. Can't fault and would recommend. I'll try to play again sometime.
