Hainault Forest Golf Club – Lower
Last updated:
What we say
Conveniently located just 13 miles outside the City of London, the Lower course at Hainault Golf Club is the longer and younger of the two courses available.
The excellent layout makes for one of the best tests of golf in the county and the higher areas allow you to appreciate the surrounding countryside.
While the course definitely favours the longer hitter, those with a poor course strategy will be severely punished.
After a good round of golf on either course, players can relax and entertain friends or colleagues in the friendly atmosphere of the clubhouse and restaurant.

Very good & popular complex (rumoured to be the UK's second most busy complex after St. Andrew's). Top course is shorter & tighter with harder walking, Bottom course is longer & more open. Get's very busy, especially with societies, so on Summer weekends expect a 5-hour round. Heavy usage means constant maintenance & occasional use of temp greens & tees. Pick & place local rule in force throughout the year. However both courses are excellent providing a variety of holes including blind greens, heavily bunkered Par 3s & excellent driving holes. Both 18th greens are under the clubhouse bar balcony where the Bottom course hole can be driven & the Top course hole has a large drop from the the hillside on the 2nd shot. A good day out if it's not to busy.

This is a great course (though I have only ever played the top [easier] course)> They offer various green fee discounts through the week, haev a great range, good clubhouse and the course itself offers spectacular views, as well as having in course ctaering facilities. Buggies are new and have sat nav, there are a number of challenging holes and would suit most standards of golf course. Only negative points are that the Greens and Especially the Tees can be a bit ropey in heavy weather but overall, a great place to play
