Ramsey Golf & Bowls Club

It may be a little short but it’s great fun to play with some interesting holes and above average greens. Set in the Fenlands, it’s pretty flat but has water hazards and trees to keep you thinking. A very friendly club.

Ramsey is a supremely picturesque parkland course on the edge of the Fens. It was formed in 1922 as a Gentlemen’s Club and in 1965 a 9 hole course was opened by Dai Rees, Peter Alliss, J Morgan and Michael Bonallack - three years later the former returned with Gary Player, Dave Thomas and Brian Barnes to open the full 18 holes. The course has matured well down the years - more trees have been added - while the greens have significantly improved and are playable year-round. Overall, Ramsey is a very fair test of golf.

  One of the most friendly courses I've ever been to, the Club Secretary teamed me up with some three realy great Seniors. Relatively narrow overall, lots of tree-lined fairways, with a brook/small river running through many of the holes. The Greens and Tees were of an excellent standard considering the weather at the time. Plenty of interesting holes on this course. Two in particular, the 13th I think? Par 5 dog leg, over and avoiding water and Out-of-Bounds, then a long blind 2nd/3rd shot over a dyke? to the green. The 18th, dogleg left, short par 4, over a river with raised banks. Definitely worth a look. P.S. Check for flooding.
