Aylesbury Vale Golf Club

The Aylesbury Vale Golf Club was founded in 1989 and opened for play in 1991. The Aylesbury golf course is relatively lengthy with many of the holes being tree-lined. However, the fairways are generous so you shouldn't be afraid to grip-and-rip-it, making it friendly for the not so advanced golfer!

There are 18 individual holes with no cross – overs at the Aylesbury Vale Golf Club: it is extremely difficult to knock your golf ball onto another fairway owing to the spacious layout. A natural brook runs through the golf course, helping to create some challenging water features, making it less friendly for the not so advanced golfer! All in all, a good fun course for all levels of golfer!

   If this course has seen huge improvements then I'm glad I didnt play it before. I know it has been wet recently but the fairways have not been cut for months. I'm not exaggerating, there were no fairways!  The rough went from the trees on the left to the trees on the right. At least let golfers know before they tee off, give them the option of not playing. It also looked like we had been playing rugby, mud everywhere! Suprisingly the greens were in very good condition.

  I've been playing this course for quite some time and recently the owners have plowed money into improvements of the course's aesthetic. The front 9 is fairly flat, the back 9 is a hilly challenge. The welcome is friendly and the price is good value. The course is a fantastic challenge where even on short par-4's there's the chance to make birdie or card a blob in equal measure. (don't I know it!) Recent developments on the course have made it a pleasure to walk around, from new tee boxes to nicer looking bridges means that this course looks fantastic, including great views from some of the higher holes. My only complaint about the set up is that I feel the rough is a little too punishing. It will add numbers to your score if you're even vaguely inaccurate, and who amongst us isn't occasionally? Otherwise, fantastic course. (The driving range is close to a chicken farm, which in high summer is a little noxious.)

  From the exceptionally warm welcome to the fact that there are no tee times, this course is a golfers dream. All you need do is call (you'll speak to Sid most of the time - he's the course president!) and find out how busy they are! It's cheaper to play after 11am on weekends and needless to say at £24 a round - and they accept 2 fore 1 - it gets VERY busy! But be patient - its worth it. I have NEVER played on temporary greens and only teed off on mats at the height of winter. It's a right tester too - the fact the TG did a lake balls pecial from here should tell you something. The one thing that lets it down is the reception in the bar. I have frequently found the staff to be less than warm and when they say they stop serving food at 3, they mean 3!! Overall though, I would strongly recommend that if you can, you play this course. Its a lot of fun.
