Home course of Six-time Open champion Harry Vardon and has bags of history and pedigree as you play golf around the striking Fort Henry with the opening four holes breathtakingly running along the coast. It’s not long but there are 100 plus bunkers and numerous gorse bushes to negotiate.
Jersey residents Ian Woosnam and Nigel Mansell are members at this impressive course which sits 250ft above sea level overlooking St Ouen’s Bay. It offers a serious links challenge and the wind is nearly always a factor. It was a regular European Tour venue with past winners including Woosie, Tony Jacklin and Bernard Gallacher.
Wonderful par-70 layout plotted at the northern end of the island on an expanse of land known as L’Ancresse Common with beaches on two sides. The club itself was founded in 1890 and provides a splendid clubhouse with excellent facilities.
It’s literally down the road from La Moye but is a completely different test when playing golf: the opening nine holes are relatively straightforward but the inward stretch is more challenging with a collection of water hazards coming into play.
This Hawtree-designed parkland course sits in over 120 acres of land on Guernsey’s western coast next to the beach at Vazon Bay and but extended to 18 in 2001.
You’ll find a number of lovely nine-hole golf courses dotted around the Channel Isles and this little beauty is one of the best and definitely among the most scenic, being flanked by golden sandy beaches, Victorian fortresses and the English Channel.
