St Andrews apart, Gullane is a good call for the title of Britain’s top golf town. It boasts five 18-hole courses with the No.1 course clearly the premier track. It is a gentle opening but the 2nd is more of a guide as to the difficulty one can expect, a par 4 which begins the march up Gullane Hill with a fairway which seems no more than 10 yards wide. The views from the 7th tee are magnificent.
