East Devon benefits from terrific sea views, is perched on clifftop and has heathland characteristics – but while it is difficult to classify it is easy to commend. Peter Alliss, for one, loves it here, believing the vista from the 16th tee to provide the “best view in golf”. On a clear day you can see Portland Bill in Dorset some 35 miles away.
