Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, the golf course that introduced Robert Trent Jones to European golfers, was opened in 1964. A true pioneer, Sotogrande was the first to use crushed marble in bunkers and bermuda grass on the fairways. Very long tees allow great varation in pin placement and hole strategy. The golf course has played host to stacks of pro and amateur events, including the 1966 Spanish Open and 1987 Spanish PGA, won by Seve. The venue also hosted European Tour Q-school in 1995.
