The K Club North Course

What we say
The K Club is not only one of the best golf courses in Ireland, it’s one of the best parkland courses in the whole of Britain.
The host of the 2006 Ryder Cup and it’s difficult to believe it is well over a decade since one of the most one-sided yet emotional Ryder Cups in the event’s history.
Certainly, when you drive off on the 1st there is every chance you have Darren Clarke in mind, given the recently bereaved Northern Irishman striped one over 300 yards down the middle through teary eyes. Oh, and you might also recall Tiger hooking his opening salvo into the water…

Water plays a significant role here, Arnold Palmer routing as many holes as he could to include a threat of the River Liffey and other hazards. It is not unplayable by any means though; choose the correct tees for your ability and you’ll have the space to enjoy reminiscing about that match many years ago.
Expect large, undulating greens, big (often very deep) bunkers and a terrific variety to the holes.

There are several risk-reward challenges, not least on the excellent closing stretch that are a fine conclusion to a road whether in the Ryder Cup, Irish Open or social round.
Now known as the North, rather than the Palmer, it is one of GB&I’s leading parkland courses.

I had the pleasure of playing both the Palmer & the Smurfit courses the year before the Ryder Cup rate them the best courses I have played if you can avoid the enormous bunkers and the acres of water. A good challenge for any golfer.
