Vilamoura – Millennium
Published:
What we say
Millennium Golf Course is a chip off Vilamoura’s Old Golf Course block. Well in parts anyway. Actually we’re reffering to a good chunk of the opening nine (holes 3-7) which are heavily tree-lined ….and Old Course-like. They’re the best holes by a mile although there’s a stirring finish with a couple of sweeping right dogleg holes flanked by the dreaded water.
Millennium Golf Course was designed by architect Martin Hawtree, and opened in May 2000.A great deal of forethought went into the planning and the Millennium Golf Course is surely destined to become one of the most attractive courses built to date in Portugal. In a beautiful setting within the pinewoods and natural countryside it has a layout that offers variety and interest for the golfer.

This course, clubhouse and welcome are just not up to scratch compared to others on the Algarve. This course is one that is on many packages so is very busy. Too much building work and no holes that are memorable. All in all it was just OK but not what you go all that way to play golf for.

As my first foreign course I was very impressed with this course, the club house is fantastic but expensive, (an OJ and Coffee was over 7 Euros!). The course was great to play despite the down pour. I’m a very high handicapper and found that it was friendly to my duff shots, but the guys I was playing with were mid handicappers and still enjoyed the round immensely.

I was looking forward to playing the Millennium and it is a good course. Our day was spoilt however as there was considerable building projecst going on around some of the fairways, drills and digging etc, also the greens had just been dressed and it was like putting in a bunker. The worst thing was the slow play, caused by players who could not have hit a ball for a few years, maybe the Millennium should follow suit with the other courses and introduce a handicap restriction

A pleasant golf course, The holes through the trees stand out a mile, but the other holes are easily forgotten, but always in good condition, well worth a visit.
-
this is a wonderful diverse course. Holes 3 to 7 wind their way through a forest whereas the rest of the holes are fairly open. Share a clubhouse with the Laguna course.
-
This course really shocked our group, it was in outstanding condition I couldn't put the camera down! With a mixture of open and enclosed fairways this is a good course for all handicaps.
-
A nice course for a high or medium handicapper. Well maintained and fairly easy to play and navigate. Clubhouse restaarant worth a visit for the non-golfers too!
-
some very good holes through the trees, but also some very scruffy parts. overhyped.
-
