Pestana Gramacho Golf Course

What we say
The Gramacho Golf Course, in Carvoeiro, Algarve, was originally a nine hole golf course which has been extended and cleverly redesigned to become a fully fledged 18-hole course. A formidable challenge to its designers! Nick Price, the former world Nr.1 player, has teamed up with the well-known golf course architect, Ronald Fream, to create a uniquely designed 18 hole golf course with varied greens that enable the golfer to play the Gramacho several times and experience different greens and new challenges.

Played here on our last 3 Algarve golf tours, and always rated near the top. From the 1st tee to the 18th green, all holes offer challenge, prestine greens (glass) and challenging shots. The clubhouse is not as good as Pinta, but adequate.

This offers great value - I rang the club who "did a deal" for our party of four. The staff without exception were very welcoming and courteous. The tees, fairways bunkers and greens were in excellent condition. This is a fairly open course although the first 4 holes have OOB fairly close at hand - beware the back of the 2nd green!! Water comes into play on 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th but not too bad with space on the opposite side of the fairway. The 17th has water on the left and the fairway is very tight (unless you cream it some distance. A great Par 5 for the 18th really finishes the round off in style. A great venue offering good value - well recommended. Enjoy!

Course layout is a bit different, very open if you know where the hidden water, out/bounds & bunkers are.I scored well though, wich made up for the terrible post gathering in the clubhouse :20 gasping blokes wanting beer and to watch a bit of footy on the tele ! they would not change the channel so we all left immediately.

quality course, great price if staying at pestana resort. very hilly, but perfect condition. friendly staff.

This course is part of the Pestana Group and as such is well looked after, the Tees are good & the Greens are superb, a mixture of small and large but nevertheless undulating, and not uncommon to putting on glass so expect to 3 putt more often than not, unless you can get it close. Some great views from a number of holes, The clubhouse used to be shared with the other Pestana Group course the Pinta, but a new clubhouse for that course has now been completed. Great food and service all round just what you want from a very good course.
