What we say
The highest new entry in Golf World Magazine’s Top 100 Golf Courses in Europe, at the lofty heights of no.67 after it received glowing recommendations from every panellist who had played it. Peter Bjerkeseth knows it extremely well and championed its inclusion. “It is located 60 minutes drive east of Oslo airport, close to the Swedish border. The architect is one of the best in Sweden, Peter Nordwall, also the designer of Annika Sorenstam’s home course,” he says.
“The course is built on sand in a majestic pine forest. To walk the course is more like walking on green carpets in a pine wood instead of a golf course because the fairways are spread wide. The different holes have their own character. Normally courses have one or two holes that could be called signature holes, but this course has at least eight that any course would have been proud of calling their signature holes. Golfers playing this course call it one of the best courses in Scandinavia. Members from Barseback in Sweden have visited and said: ‘I thought we had one of the best courses in Scandinavia, but after playing this, I am not sure any more.’ People from Stockholm travel 80 miles to play it during a weekend.”
