Rob McGarr is a freelance contributor at Today’s Golfer.
He has been a writer and editor for over 15 years, covering all manner of subjects, including a hefty dose of golf.
He’s played golf with tour pros and celebrities including Greg Norman, Charley Hull, Matt Wallace, Long Driver World Champion Joe Miller, and Rob Brydon, watched The Open with Gary Player, and had a pull-up contest with Rory McIlroy. He’s interviewed countless tour pros and will always have a soft spot for Tommy Fleetwood.
Rob has played golf all over the world and lists Royal Portrush, Saunton, Silloth on Solway, the Dunes Club and Woodhall Spa’s Hotchkin among his favorite courses.
He once played in the world’s biggest amateur golf tournament and finished a respectable 7th in his division, despite making a pretty calamitous 11 on a shortish par-4.
He’s been a member of many golf clubs, including The Warren, Peterborough Milton, Burghley Park, Belton Park, and Royal Norwich. His current home club is Royal North Devon, England’s oldest golf club, where he plays off a two-handicap.
Rob has a YouTube channel with over 26,000 subscribers and 4.6 million views which charts, among other things, the ups and (many) downs of his attempts to get from a 10-handicap to scratch.
He’s also on Twitter and Instagram, which is pretty ironic, considering he generally loathes social media.
Rob uses a Callaway GBB Epic Sub Zero driver, Ping G 3-wood, Callaway X Forged UT 18 2-iron, Callaway Apex Pro irons, Cleveland RTX-3 wedges, TaylorMade Spider X HydroBlast putter, and the Bridgestone Tour B XS golf ball.
